Medical Speech Pathology is experienced in providing holistic care for individuals living with a range of progressive or degenerative neurological conditions.

Conditions include but are not limited to:

  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Atypical parkinsonian disorders including progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), multiple system atrophy (MSA) and corticobasal degeneration (CBD)
  • Huntington’s Disease (Medical Speech Pathology is UHDRS-accredited)
  • Dementia
  • Primary Progressive Aphasia
  • Motor Neuron Disease
  • Friedrich’s Ataxia and Spinocerebellar Ataxias
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Leukoencephalopathy

Medical Speech Pathology offers the following services:

  • In-home assessment and ongoing management
  • Assessment and training in oral care and secretion management
  • Voice and message banking
  • Early implementation of Augmentative & Alternative Communication methods
  • Initiating discussions around preferences surrounding nutrition and hydration delivery
  • Staff & carer training
  • Coordination with other members of the multidisciplinary team
